FAQs (Working with us)

How often are the positions updated on this site?

Whilst we pride ourselves on a committed team, we live in a transient international environment. Check the website regularly for job postings as vacancies can occur at any time.

What qualifications do I need to work at the Lighthouse?

Three Little Ships

To work in the Early Intervention pre-school, you need to have a Dutch qualification for working in Child Care (Kinderopvang).

If you have a European Early Years qualification, then you need to get this ratified by the Dutch authorities. Contact DUO for more information: DUO and Childcare

If you have a non-European Early Years qualification then you are not permitted by Dutch authorities to work in the Three Little Ships, unless you are a qualified teacher.

Lighthouse School

To work as a teacher at the school, then you have to have qualification that is recognised by the Dutch authorities. Contact DUO for more information: DUO and Teaching

To work as an assistant in the Lighthouse, you do not need to have a specific qualification. However, we do expect that you will have some experience of working in education and, preferably, in special education.

I submitted my CV but haven't heard back yet. What's the status of my application?

We get many applications for each vacancy and we only reach out to the people that we feel fit the profile of the person that we are looking for. Unfortunately, we are not able to make personal contact with people who do not get through the initial selection process.

Will you help me with relocation?

No. In general, the Lighthouse does not assist in the relocation of new staff.

Do you take open applications?

Yes. You should submit your CV and a letter of motivation. Be aware, though, that we may not be able to respond to your application immediately.

Do I have the right to work in the Netherlands?

The Lighthouse cannot arrange a work visa for you. To work at the school, you should be a European citizen or have the appropriate clearance by the Dutch authorities to work in The Netherlands.
